Argh!!!

Was just asked to go on a short work trip in Europe next week, but can't, because it clashes with some pre-existing engagements! There goes my PPS membership for next year (not to mention 20,000 FF miles)... boo hoo hoo..

I'm now obssessed with accumulating enough Asia Miles to redeem a business class ticket to Toronto, to visit L's grandma.

I have the gold krisflyer amex card from some time back.. pretty good deal - I think, as long as u spend more than SGD5000 in a year, you get 1 FF mile for every SGD1.07 spent.. am sure the deal for the PPS amex card is even better..

Though recently the ABN credit card was offering 12 FF miles for every SGD5!!

There is nothing... NOTHING, I tell you, that should get in the way of accumulating PPS sectors!

PPS AMEX is good stuff. Double miles if you buy from Changi DFS! But I'm not paying for it after the free first year, so if they don't waive the charge I'm heading back to Gold.

Does the ABN card have fees for mileage transfers? That's usually the sticking point for non-KF affiliated credit cards.

CM: the ABN application form said there would be no application charge for the platinum card, so..

Btw, a lot of people don't seem to know that if you pay SGD75 a year, you can get points on your Amex corporate card... SGD2.56 for 1 SQ FF mile..

I'm not talking about the annual fee, rather the 'handling' fee for transferring FF miles. It is usually about $25 per transfer, which makes it not at all worthwhile to accumulate miles on non-KF affiliated credit cards.

As for Membership Rewards on AMEX corporate cards. I reaped major points/miles with my ex-coy because business flights were charged to our individual corporate cards instead of a central account. But they decided to suspend that perk even though we were paying the fee ourselves. AMEX incurs costs in giving rewards and so both AMEX and companies are more than happy to save monies by suspending MR.

Word on the street is that Star airlines are going to allow you to use miles from one member program to upgrade on any other Star airline. Don't know how accurate this rumour is...

CM: I know.. what I mean was that for ABN apparently usually it's SGD10, but for the platinum card they waive it... and yeah, heh, I'm still getting MR points on my personal corporate card :o)

Anon: I'm sure a lot of people will be very happy, but I usually scrimp my miles together, only to afford economy flights.. heh..

Gotcha!

And same here, I tend to just use miles for free tickets. FREEEEEEEEEE! Upgrades somehow just aren't that attractive even though it's a better use of miles.
